Most safety tools are a button. A button assumes you can reach your phone, unlock it and press it. Garly is built for the moments when you cannot. You tell it what your normal looks like — the people you trust, the places that matter, the journeys you repeat — and it watches for that pattern breaking. Nothing escalates on one clue.

You turn it on before you need it: a walk home, a first date, a night shift, or any moment that feels off. While it is on, Garly can read location, movement and — only if you switch it on separately — sound.

At least two independent signals must agree before anything escalates. A single noise, or a single moment of stillness, is never treated as an emergency.

If you stop moving and your position stops changing, Garly asks whether you are okay. Both have to be true: movement from a vehicle or a real change of position resets the timer, including with the phone in a bag.

You choose the wait: 30 minutes by default, anything from 10 minutes to 2 hours, or off entirely. The check offers two answers, not one — I'm okay and I'm waiting here — because being still is not the same as being in trouble. With no answer at all, the SOS countdown begins.

Tell Garly you are walking somewhere alone and it will keep you talking for the whole way. It is a deliberate dead-man's switch: if you say nothing for five minutes, a thirty-second countdown starts, and then your trusted contacts are alerted with your location. You can stop it with one tap at any point, and end the mode when you arrive.

The timer is kept by the app itself, not by the AI, so it keeps running if the network drops or the assistant is unavailable.

When an alert fires, the people you chose receive a message saying you may need help, together with your current or last known location as a map link. They do not get a live feed of your movements, and they never see your chats, your diary or your memories.

You decide who is on that list, and the first contact is the one alerted first.

Location. Used to follow a journey you started, to notice when you reach or leave a place you saved, and to attach your position to an alert. It runs in the background only while Protection Mode is on. On Android a permanent notification is visible the whole time; on iPhone the system shows its own location indicator.

Motion sensors. Used to tell walking from stillness, and to notice an impact or a fall. This never leaves your phone.

Microphone. The installed apps never open it. On iPhone the permission is not even declared, and on Android it was removed in August 2026 so that both behave the same way. Protection works from movement, a deliberate shake, the manual SOS and the stillness check.

Sound detection exists only in the Live Demo on the Garly website, where you start it yourself and the sound is analysed in your browser and never uploaded. Garly has never recorded audio and cannot play any back.

Garly can remember what you tell it — the people who matter, your usual hours, the places you go — so you do not have to repeat yourself. Every sensitive memory is offered to you first, with three answers: keep it, use it for this conversation only, or refuse it.

You can switch memory off completely, see everything that was saved, and delete any of it, at any time, from the Memory screen.

Garly grows through nine stages, from Spark to Ascend. Three things move it forward, and only these three: adding a trusted contact, saving a place that matters, and writing in your diary.

There is no daily login, no streak and no timer running down while you sleep. You cannot grind it, and it never decays if you stay away. The stage is not a score — it is how complete your safety setup is, drawn as a creature.

No. The microphone is off unless you switch on sound detection, and even then it opens only while Protection Mode is armed, with a notification visible throughout. It is never open in the background of ordinary use.

No. Garly alerts the people you chose. It cannot contact the emergency services for you, and it will never tell you that it has.

Every escalation gives you a countdown you can stop with one tap. That is deliberate: an alarm people switch off after three false positives protects nobody on the night it is real.

Inside the installed app, yes. On iPhone a background location session is what lets the motion sensors keep sampling with the screen off; on Android a foreground service does the same, and tells you it is running. In a plain browser tab the system can pause the page, so use the app when you are relying on it.

Sensors and timers keep working offline. Sending an alert needs a connection or mobile signal; if automatic delivery is unavailable, Garly opens your phone's SMS composer with the message and location ready to send.

Your trusted contacts never see them. Messages are sent to the AI service that generates Garly's replies in order to answer you; your phone number and your contacts' phone numbers are never included.
